What is a Watch?
It is a time to pray, worship and set a watch for our generation. CrossPower is one of the many ministries at Hosanna Church. Pastor Joseph Grubb - senior pastor and apostle of Hosanna TCIF - felt that as a church it was necessary that we establish a 24 hour, 7 day a week Prayer and Worship Watch. Throughout the week there are various prayer focuses with 2 hour segments. Lord willing, these 2 hour segments will further expand into a 24/7 Watch. Below are some scriptures that support the call to continual prayer and worship to God.
Scriptures to Watch and Pray:
Mark 13:33-37, "Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming -- in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning -- lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to ALL: Watch!"
"O LORD, God of my salvation, I have cried out day and night before You. Let my prayer come before You; Incline Your ear to my cry. For my soul is full of troubles, And my life draws near to the grave." ~ Psalm 88:1-3
"The sons of the foreigner Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him, And to love the name of the LORD ... Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath, And holds fast My covenant -- Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer ... For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations. The Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, says, Yet I will gather to him Others besides those who are gathered to Him." ~ Isaiah 56:6-8
"Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' Hosanna in the highest!" And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?" So the multitudes said, This is JESUS ... and HE said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.' Then the blind and the lame came to HIM in the temple, and HE healed them." ~ Matthew 21:9-14
"Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear GOD nor regard man. "Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Get justice for me from my adversary.' "And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear GOD nor regard man, 'yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' Then the LORD said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall GOD not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? "I tell you that HE will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will HE really find faith on the earth?" ~ Luke 18:1-8
